The United States Army and the National Hot Rod Association sponsors a program at the Bristol NHRA Drag Racing Event each year for students in the automotive and diesel technology field. It is open to secondary and post secondary students. The U.S. Army delivers an information session for and their drivers answer questions on racing and serving in the military. The U.S. Army Top Fuel Driver, Tony Schumacher, just happens the be the 8 Time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion with a record breaking speed of over 330 MPH in a quarter mile. After the information session students are given the opportunity to meet these drivers. They are then given free admission to the race and access to the pit area where they can watch the cars being worked on and engines being built in under 30 minutes. Major tool vendors such as MATCO Tools that our students purchase tools through with the 50% off MATCO VOTECH program are also available. Since we are customers of MATCO Tools, students obtained access to the MATCO Tools Hospitality Suite and their Top Fuel Driver, Antron Brown, spoke with the students about different job opportunities in racing.
