Tennessee Technology Center at Harriman’s Machine Tool Technology Program presented the Morgan County American Legion Post 149 with a 27” aluminum CNC (computer numerical controlled) milled plate medallion. The gift of the medallion was in honor of the grand re-opening of the local legion post as well as honoring all the veterans who have served our county.

The face of the medallion pictures three flag posts with American, State of Tennessee, and POW flags in the center. It also listed all five of the armed services around the edges as well as the name and number of the legion post. This medallion was designed jointly by members of the legion and machine tool technology students Anna Christina Zerr and Clark Tucker.

After the design was completed it was loaded on Solidwoks CAD software then transferred to Mastercam (computer aided machining) where several other students began the machining phase of the medallion. The plate was machined on a HAAS VF2 CNC Machining Center and took several million lines of G code programming to complete. The completed medallion weighs approximately 65 pounds and will hang in the Morgan County American Legion Post 149 building.

“We were proud to be a part of this project to honor our veterans and the legion.” Stated Adam Dalton, instructor of the Machine Tool Technology class. “ Thanks to the hard work of all the students who took part in this project TTC-Harriman has showcased the excellent work ethic and abilities of our students while making a contribution to the community.”
